County board receives check from Meridian Way

Cloud County board of commissioners received a check for $200,000 from Meridian Way Wind Farm Site Manager Brian Plymesser at its meeting Tuesday morning.
Plymesser said that Meridian Way Wind Farm, owned and operated by EDP Renewables North America (formerly Horizon Wind Energy), was proud to present its next annual contribution to Cloud County and to see the immediate results of its 2011 contribution in the new fueling stations in Aurora, Jamestown and Glasco, providing benefits to citizens throughout the county.
“We understand additional project concepts have been discussed for 2012, and we look forward to our continued partnership with Cloud County in funding initiatives that enhance the quality of life for the entire community,” Plymesser said.
In other business the board set the dates, times and locations for the public meetings that will be held presenting information concerning the proposed Law Enforcement Center project. The meetings, all at 7 p.m., will be at Miltonvale Community Center, March 1; Concordia City Hall, March 5; Clyde Grade School Apartments, March 6; Glasco Senior Citizens Center, March 12; and Jamestown Downtown Activity Center, March 13.
Highway administrator Andy Asch reported his department has received $33,811.39 in reimbursement from FEMA for debris cleanup and emergency work related to the storm damages received last year. Asch said he should receive additional reimbursement of approximately $140,000 from FEMA for road repairs.
Commissioners approved a 30 cent per hour raise effective Feb. 26 for county employees, department heads and elected officials, excluding the commissioners and Sheriff Department employees because they have received raises previously as recommended by the Sheriff.
In other matters the board
—approved department payrolls totaling $120,441.36.
—approved the hire of Troy Shepard as the maintenance manager, effective Feb. 21 at a rate of $14.10 per hour with an increase of $14.50 after six months.
—approved a change in job title for Jerry Collins from IT Tech to IT Director effective Feb. 21, and a wage increase to $15 per hour.
—approved allowing the Heartland Auto Club to use the parking area north of the Courthouse for its Car Show during Fall Fest, Sept. 22.
—had a study session in the afternoon.
