RICHARD A. "DICK" PAYNE
Richard Adair "Dick" Payne, 87, Salina, died Feb. 19, 2012. He was born in Clyde on July 3, 1924, the son of Moses Francis and Julia Esther (Gram) Payne.
He was the owner and operator of Payne Oil Co., later Propane Central. Dick was a member of First United Methodist Church, Salina, where he and his late wife, Barbara, were members of the Peacemakers Sunday School Class. He was a member of the Isis Shrine, a WWII Army veteran, American Legion member and Life Member of the V.F.W.
Dick married the former Barbara Ruth Griffeth Aug. 7, 1944, in Ames, Kan. She preceded him in death June 17, 2008, as do one brother and one sister.
He is survived by his three sons, Rick (Maura) Payne of Newton, David (Ann) Payne and Mike Payne of Salina. He had two brothers, Larry (Beverly) Payne of Loveland, Colo., and Francis (Marilyn)  Payne of Peabody, Kan. His eight grandchildren are Todd Payne, Tiffany White, Tara Payne, Brett Payne, Dr. Ryan Payne, Eric Payne, Kevin Payne and Shannon Payne. There are 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Memorial services will be at 1:30 p.m., Friday, Feb. 24, 2012, at the First United Methodist Church, Salina. Memorials are suggested to the Church or to Hospice of Salina. For more information or condolences go to www.ryanmortuary.com.
