LEE R. MYERS
Lee R. Myers, 91 years of age, of Concordia, passed away Saturday, Feb. 18, 2012, at Cloud County Health Center in Concordia.
He was born on Sept. 19, 1920, at Burr Oak to Herman and Nina (Pierce) Myers. Lee married Esther Belden in Concordia on July 27, 1942. He served his country in the United States Army during WWII from Aug. 19, 1942, to Nov. 28, 1945. Lee enjoyed farming, gardening, woodworking, fishing, camping, family, and most of all, ice cream.
Lee is survived by his wife, Esther; four daughters, Carol Edmonds and husband Arlen of Clyde; Dora Gail Johnson and Janice Vignery and husband David, all of Concordia; Terri Ferguson of Dallas, Texas; six grandchildren, Bradley Johnson, Kristine Johnson; Bobbie Jo Collette and husband Jeremy; Tony Vignery and wife Jenny; Mackenzie Ferguson, Alexander Ferguson; five great-grandchildren, Tierra Johnson; Taylor, Dylan and Caden Collette; Gavin Vignery; three brothers, Lewis Myers and wife Shirley of Hastings, Neb.; Ray Myers and wife Wanda of Topeka; Norman Myers and wife Mary Jane of Tucson, Ariz.; one sister, Sylvia Kell and husband Curtis of Scappoose, Ore.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Verl and Clarence; two sisters, Ardell Chindberg, Mary Eddington; and two infant sisters.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, Feb. 24, 2012, in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Concordia with the Rev. Dean Frazier officiating.
Visitation will be held from 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 23, 2012, in the Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home in Concordia. Family will greet friends before services from 12:30 p.m.-1:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 24, 2012, at the funeral home. Military graveside services will be conducted by American Legion Post #76 and VFW Post #588.
